Yes! Spanish and French are completely free — forever, with no limits. You can do unlimited lessons, use the AI conversation feature, track your CEFR progress, and access every grammar and vocabulary exercise without paying anything. No hidden costs, no trial periods, no energy gates.
Each additional language (Japanese, German, Italian, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Dutch, and Greek) is available as a one-time purchase of $4.99. Once you buy a pack, you own it permanently — no subscription, no monthly fees. Future content updates for that language are included at no extra cost. Purchases are tied to your App Store or Google Play account and can be restored on any device.
Grammar and vocabulary lessons work fully offline — all lesson content is included with the App. The AI conversation feature (Sofia) requires an active internet connection because it uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate real-time responses. Word of the Day notifications are also scheduled locally and do not require internet access once set up.
If you've reinstalled the App or switched devices, you can restore your purchases by going to the Language Store screen in Fluxa and tapping "Restore Purchases." Your purchases are linked to your Apple ID (iOS) or Google Account (Android), so you must be signed in to the same account you used originally. Restoration is free and instant.
Sofia is Fluxa's AI conversation partner, powered by Anthropic's Claude AI. She speaks only in your target language, responds to your messages, and provides real-time grammar corrections and English translations for each response. You can also tap the speaker icon to hear her responses spoken aloud. Sofia adapts to real-world conversation scenarios like ordering food, asking for directions, or introducing yourself.
CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) is the international standard for language proficiency, from A1 (complete beginner) to C2 (mastery). In Fluxa, every correct answer earns XP points. Your total XP is mapped to a CEFR level that appears in your progress screen and on the home screen. This gives you an internationally recognised benchmark you can use when communicating your language skills.
A streak save (also called a streak shield) automatically protects your learning streak if you miss a day. You receive one free streak save every Monday. If you miss a practice day, the save is automatically used to preserve your streak. Once used, the shield replenishes the following Monday. You can see your current shield status on the Home screen.
Fluxa has no subscriptions to cancel — all purchases are one-time. If you would like a refund for a language pack purchase, you need to request it directly through the store you purchased from: on iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, visit play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory. Refund eligibility is determined by Apple and Google's respective refund policies.
All your learning data — progress, XP, streak, lesson history — is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not collect or store personal data on our servers. AI conversation messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses but are not stored by us. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
You can toggle Word of the Day notifications off in two ways: (1) Open Fluxa, tap the ⚙️ Settings icon on the Home screen, and toggle off "Word of the Day"; or (2) go to your phone's Settings app → Notifications → Fluxa and disable notifications there. Notifications are entirely optional and are only ever used for the Word of the Day feature — we never send marketing notifications.
